DEAR SALEH,
Congratulations on your acceptance to Western Illinois University. The next step for you is to decide where you want to live. Your housing choice is more than just a roof over your head. It is important that you choose a living environment that will meet all your academic needs.
All WIU graduate students participate in our guaranteed rate plan. You will pay the same rate for housing throughout your tenure at WIU. Our rates are all inclusive of the following: cable, heat, air, security, high speed internet and local phone.
Here at Western Illinois University we offer several lifestyles to help maintain your academic and personal goals. We have two types of housing for you to choose from.
Graduate and Family Housing
Graduate housing has three Village complexes for apartment living. On opposite corners of campus, each complex has its own unique mix of single or double bedroom, furnished or unfurnished apartments. Click here to learn more about this living environment ( http://www.uhds.wiu....efamilyhousing/)
All apartments are furnished with an electric stove and refrigerator, air conditioning/heating units, garbage disposal units and blinds. All utility costs, including basic cable TV service and Internet access are included in the rental rate.
Residence Halls
Western offers several different Residence hall living options. Each is meant to meet the different needs of our students. These are several options graduate students may be interested in. Click here to learn more about the Residence Halls. ( http://www.uhds.wiu.edu/)
Single Rooms - Western is one of the few universities to offer single rooms as the predominate room type. More than half of the students living on campus choose single room accommodations. Graduate students are encouraged to apply early if requesting a single room. Singles include basic singles, Super singles and Suite singles.
Suites - We offer two different types of Suite style living. Caroline Grote Hall, which opened in 2004, houses Graduate, Sr. and Jr. They have one single room and one double room sharing a private bathroom. The other Suite style living we have is Corbin Hall. There you have 2 double rooms with a shared common living room.
24- Hour Quiet Floor - 24-hour quiet floors are designed for students seeking a quiet academic environment.
Non - Traditional - Students who have stepped out of the educational arena for various reasons may enjoy the focus of the non-traditional community. Staff members design programs specifically for the population that address getting back into the classroom, getting involved on campus, and career preparations.
You may apply for housing in two ways. One method is through our online application that can be found at ( http://www.uhds.wiu.edu/prospective) or you can request to have the information sent to you by emailing us at uhds@wiu.edu. If you have any questions regarding housing or dining, please contact our office at 309/298-2461 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. We look forward to your arrival!
Sincerely,
